21.08.142 x 8 plus 2 x 10 = 20

This does not really look correct but what it means is that an 8 feet container is stowed into a 10 feet container and then the 2 x 10' containers are coupled together by special interlocking devices forming a standard 20'x8'x8'6'' container ready for shipment from China to Europe (see photo below). These containers are mainly used for domestic storage purposes.

Such units we shipped recently for one of our regular customers here. This saves of course a lot of money compared to shipping them as single containers. The idea to put an 8' container into a 10' container reminds a little bit on the popular Russian puppet called "Matrjoschka" where always an even smaller puppet comes out when you open the puppet in your hands. Just to mention: There exist also 6' containers. So there is still a little bit room for improvement for a clever logistics guy.
